Barbados embraces both its British heritage and its captivating natural beauty. It has been described as an English shire county with palm-fringed tropical beaches and year-round sunshine.
The West Coast homes and restaurants have become the playground of the rich and famous. The East Coast remains the most scenic, with sugar, banana and mango plantations, picturesque Bajan villages, and deserted beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see.
In general, the seas on the west coast are the calmest. On the south coast you will find seas of gentle waves for body surfing and rollers for wind surfing. The east and north coasts meet the Atlantic Ocean where huge waves crash along the shore and coral reefs. Except for a few protected bays, this area is not recommended for swimming.
Andromeda Gardens, Harrison's Cave, and the Barbados Wildlife Reserve are just a few places to enjoy the island's natural charms. Barbados also has some of the best windsurfing conditions and plenty of superb beaches. Savor the pleasures on Barbados, where surf, sun, and sophistication go hand-in-hand!
